Eugene N. Myers

Eugene N. Myers, MD, FACS, FRCS Edin (Hon), Distinguished Professor, Emeritus of Otolaryngology, Emeritus Chair, Department of Otolaryngology

Eugene N. Myers is Distinguished Professor and Emeritus Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Temple University School of Medicine. He did his Residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary – Harvard Medical School. A Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery in New York with Dr. John Conley followed. Dr. Myers became Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1972, a position he held for 33 years. Dr. Myers is a specialist in Head and Neck Cancer Surgery. He has published hundreds of articles, book chapters, and many books on the subject. Dr. Myers is a past President of the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Head and Neck Society, the American Laryngological Society and the Pan American Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He continues to be very active in patient care and teaching. He is also the Director of the International Visiting Scholars Program in the Department of Otolaryngology which attracts many physicians, residents, fellows, and students from overseas as observers or researchers in our Department.

Prof. Prahlada Nayaka Basavanthappa

Advanced Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Ear & Skull Base Surgery and Head & Neck Cancer and Reconstructive Surgery, Micro-vascular reconstructive Surgery and Voice Surgery in various prestigious Institutes at abroad. In year 2000, he was awarded Dr. RAF Cooper National Award for his Original Surgical technique, "Karnataka Flap for Mastoid Obliteration". He has won more than 17 prestigious Gold Medals for these research activities. As an International faculty resource person, he has delivered lectures, chaired sessions and demonstrated various surgeries in many national and international courses and conferences. He has trained more than 120 junior ENT Surgeons from India as well as abroad. He has produced many educational CD/DVDs to teach ENT fraternity. He as organized many national and international academic events. He Rotary International Ear project and instrumental in conducting more than 450 camps in more than 19 countries and performing free surgeries for more than 45,000 poor patients with various Ear problems. Recognizing his yeoman service, the Rotary International has awarded him the most prestigious "Professional Excellence Award". Visiting Skull Base Surgeon at SSNMC, Bangalore.

Abdul Aziz Al Qahtani

Assistant professor at AlFaisal University, Consultant in Rhinology and skull base surgery in ORL/H&NS. Graduated from the Saudi board of ORL/H&N.

He joined the clinical fellowship program of Rhinology and skull base surgery at University of Insubria, Varese- Italy with professor Castelnuovo. He got his research scholarship from Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA. Dr. AlQahtani is currently working at King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh- Saudi Arabia. His main interest in minimal invasive skull base surgery, medical education and training.

Mr Abdulrahman has over 17 years’ experience and has worked in ENT Departments in Ireland, Italy, Jordan and Iraq. Since 2014, he has been a visiting consultant to Iraq to perform advanced and complex Sinonasal cases. Mr Abdulrahman began as a Consultant ENT Surgeon in Tallaght Hospital in 2018 taking on Rhinology, Endoscopic Skull Base, Facial and Otolaryngology Surgeries. In this role he also collaborated with Cork University Hospital’s Neurosurgeon to perform complex endoscopic skull base surgeries.

Prof. Roberto Puxeddu is an Italian and UK board certified Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon with great clinical exposure and currently a Full Professor in Otorhinolaryngologist at the University of Medicine and Surgery at university of Cagliari Italy. Prior to this prof. Roberto Puxeddu worked at Portsmouth Hospital Trust, UK as Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist Head and Neck Surgeon with special interest in Laser Head and Neck Surgery. His medical expertise includes paediatric ENT for acquired and congenital diseases, salivary glands benign and malignant diseases, including sialoendoscopic procedures. He has special interest in Head and Neck Surgery with particular experience in endoscopic and open conservative oncologic surgery and reconstructive microvascular reconstruction. He has been the first Italian surgeon to perform bilateral selective laryngeal reinnervation for bilateral vocal cord paralysis. He has also a wide experience in ear surgery and endoscopic sinus surgery being trained worldwide. He is trained to manage majority of ENT emergency. Prof. Roberto Puxeddu has multiple publications in eminent journals, of which 97 are cited on Scopus and PubMed. He has reviewed articles for different ENT and Maxillofacial journals. He has been organiser of multiple hands-on Courses in Head and Neck Surgery with particular interest in Trans-Oral Laser surgery for benign and malignant pathology.

Janez Rebol, PhD, MD

Janez Rebol, PhD, MD, is an Associate Professor at the Medical Faculty University of Maribor, Slovenia and the Vice-Chairman of the ORL Department, UKC Maribor, Slovenia. He received his medical degree from the Medical Faculty of Ljubljana University, Slovenia. He trained at the Maribor Teaching Hospital, Slovenia. He obtained his PhD from the University of Zagreb, Croatia. He is a member of the Slovene ORL Society, of the European Academy of Otology & Neurotology, and of the Politzer Society. His main research interest focuses on otoneurology.

Gunta Sumeraga MD PhD

Certified otorhinolaryngologist, consults and treats both children and adults. Her priorities are middle ear disease and hearing problems. Gunta Sumeraga participates in the following associations: Latvian Association of Otolaryngologists, European Rhinology Association, European Otology Association and Neuro-Otology Association. She is practicing as a doctor otolaryngologist at P. Stradins Clinical University Hospital and the Surgery Department of the RSU.
